Things to Do in Estes Park with Kids
Looking for things to do in Estes Park with kids in mind? Estes Park has two amusement parks, a bowling alley, and several other activities like trout fishing and outdoor seminars that the whole family can enjoy.
Estes Park’s two amusement parks are Fun City and Estes Park Ride-A-Kart. Fun City has a giant slide, bumper cars and boats, go-karts, and a climbing wall. The Ride-A-Kart has a few of these activities and a miniature railroad, a 4-person bungee trampoline, and two 18-hole mini-golf courses.
If you’re in the mood for a quieter, more relaxed afternoon and have children interested in fishing, another great place to go is the trout pond at Trout Haven Ranch. Privately owned and stocked, Trout Haven Ranch does not require a Colorado fishing license and guarantees a catch. All of the equipment required is available free of charge—you only pay (by the inch) for the fish you catch.
A third option is Chipper’s Lanes, a site for parties, music, and a game of bowling. Chipper’s Lanes participates in the Kids Bowl Free program, so visitors under 18 who have been signed up online can get two free games.
Finally, we recommend visiting the Rocky Mountain Nature Association’s website for a list of seminars that take place during the summer. Several of these are planned with kids in mind and can provide an exciting and educational outdoor experience.
In addition to the many short hikes, waterfall hikes, and rock climbing opportunities in Rocky Mountain National Park, the following activities are especially fun for kids.
- Horseback Riding
- Fishing
- Miniature Golfing
- Rafting
- Aerial Tramway
- Movie Theatres
- Rock Climbing
- Sledding
- Biking
- Swimming
- Bowling
